Luckily, this time we’re here to offer our top tips for achieving your New Year resolutions, along with our favourite skincare goals for the new year.
This year, when setting your New Year resolutions, why not also look at switching up your skincare routine?
By giving your skin the love and attention it deserves, you can achieve those dreams of healthy, radiant and glowing skin in no time. We know how easy it can be to abandon your New Year resolutions, so we’ve put together our favourite quick-and-easy skincare routine goals for the new Year.
With resolutions as simple as drinking more water or getting enough beauty sleep, we’ve got you covered if your goal for the new year is to have radiant, glowy skin.
How to Successfully Achieve Your New Year Goals
While you may have your heart set on achieving a new fitness goal, saving money, moisturising daily or kicking the chocolate habit, it can be easy to fall off the wagon. We want you to smash your new year goals, so here are our top tips to successfully achieve your New Year goals.
By following these three simple steps, you can improve your chances of success when it comes to sticking to your New Year resolutions.
1. Start Small When Setting Goals
When you’re trying to think of what goals to set yourself for the new year, start small. Every year, people will set themselves huge resolutions that they wish to achieve over the next year. But the trick to sticking with your goals is to break them down into small, achievable changes.
So, instead of saying you’ll go to bed earlier, start off by setting yourself the goal of going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night, then next month, make it 30 minutes earlier and so on until you reach your target goal. Doing this will make your goals more realistic, improving the likelihood of lasting change.
2. Set Positive Goals
Instead of making goals that focus on taking something away, such as eating less junk food, focus on adding something good (e.g. eating more healthy food). The end goal is still the same but by reframing it as a positive goal where you are adding something positive instead of cutting something out, you’ll be more likely to accomplish your goal.
It’s sooo much easier to add a behaviour than it is to stop a behaviour. When setting your goals for this year, why not look at adding more positive behaviours to your life? Eventually, those positive changes we’ll squeeze out and replace the negative behaviours that were there before them.
3. Track Your Progress and Reward Yourself
Finally, keep track of how you’re doing and reward yourself for reaching milestones along your goal-getting journey.
To keep track of your goals, create a goal-tracker and set yourself daily reminders to keep your goals at the forefront of your mind. You could keep your goals listed in your daily planner or set them as your phone wallpaper.
Then, reward yourself for continuing to stick with your goal until eventually the goal simply becomes part of your everyday life. Make sure the thing you reward yourself with isn’t going to undo all the hard work you’ve put into achieving your goals.
If you’re new year resolution is to drink more water then maybe set yourself a reward of a pamper night with a face mask, enjoying an evening eating your favourite dessert and watching a movie or reward yourself by booking a spa break.
Ideas for Skincare Goals to Set as Your New Years Resolution
Make your new year resolution one that’s all about self-care and set yourself some skincare goals. We’ve shared some of our favourite skincare goals that you can easily set as your new year resolution.
1. Moisturise Your Skin
When you lead a busy life, it’s easy to forget the all-important step of regular moisturisation. Keeping your skin hydrated and well-moisturised will do wonders for its health and appearance. So, if you’re struggling to remember the last time you moisturised your skin, maybe it’s time to add ‘frequent moisturising’ to your skincare routine.
Make moisturising your New Year goal and you can be on the road to having healthy, hydrated and glowing skin. By adding skin moisturising to your daily skincare routine you can help prevent dry, dull, cracked and irritated skin.
The I LOVE body butters offer a hydrating helping-hand when it comes to moisturisation. Packed with shea butter and coconut oil, our body butters will leave your skin smooth, soft and glowing.
2. Save Water and Take Shorter Showers
Okay, technically this is more of an environment-focused New Year resolution but it’s important to all do our part to help save the environment – so if we can help save the planet during our daily skincare routine, it’s a bonus goal!
Long, hot showers can have negative effects on your skin. If you are guilty of taking long and hot showers, you may find your skin becomes more sensitive or dried out. Prolonged showers can strip your skin of its natural barrier.
Instead of taking long showers, make a New Year commitment to take shorter showers to hep save your skin and the environment.
3. Drink More Water
Did you know drinking more water is one simple way to revolutionise your skincare? Experts say you should drink 8 glasses of water a day. If your daily water consumption is falling way short of that recommendation, consider making it your New Year resolution to drink more water.
Drinking more water and staying hydrated will work wonders for your skin and health. Without water, your skin can become dry, tight, flaky and prone to ageing.
The skincare benefits of drinking more water include having fewer wrinkles, improved complexion, reduced puffiness or acne, smaller pores, improved skin elasticity, healthy pH balance and slowing the ageing process… to name a few!
4. Exfoliate Your Skin Frequently
This New Year add frequent exfoliation into your skincare routine. Frequently exfoliating your skin will buff away dead skin and, in turn, also helps with other skincare imperfections.
Make a New Year promise to exfoliate your skin twice-a-week for a quick and easy way to improve your skincare routine and benefit from healthy, glowing skin.
Our exfoliating shower smoothies are the perfect way to easily add exfoliation to your skincare routine. Containing natural almond shell, our shower smoothies are a gentle way to buff your skin whilst showering to reveal healthy and rejuvenated skin.
5. Be More Green
Your skin deserves the best. That’s why we recommend choosing skincare products that contain a high percentage of natural and kind-to-skin ingredients. Just like eating well benefits our body, our skin is affected by the kinds of skincare products it absorbs.
Using skincare treats that are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and packed full of natural ingredients is a good habit to maintain.
Our Signature Scents collection is filled with a high percentage of natural ingredients and skin-loving moisturisers such as shea butter, organic coconut oil and natural fruit extracts.

6. Clear Out Old Skincare Products
When did you last clear out your skincare? Chances are your bathroom cabinet may contain some skincare and cosmetics that have gone past their shelf-life.
Look for the period-after-opening symbol on your cosmetics, toiletries and skincare products. This PAO symbol will have a number of months written next to it to depict how long after opening the product should be disposed of.
Unused and sealed cosmetics should be fine to stay – but take some time at the start of the new year to go through all of your skincare products and if they’ve been open for longer than the number of months shown on the packaging, it’s time to get rid. Instead of throwing them out, do your best to recycle them.
You can do this by:
- Check for recycling symbols to make sure the products are recyclable.
- If they can be recycled, wash the containers and make sure they are free of product and recycle them
To reduce your carbon footprint, try to reuse or upcycle the packaging. For instance, body butter pots could be cleaned out and used to store trinkets, jewellery, hairgrips – to offer a few suggestions!
7. Get Enough Beauty Sleep
Of course, we’ve saved the best for last and that is to make it your New Year resolution to get enough beauty sleep!
It’s no secret that a good night’s sleep can make you look and feel good. In fact, scientists have studied it and confirmed that beauty sleep does exist. During your peaceful slumber, your body goes into repair mode to regenerate skin, blood, brain cells and muscles. As a result, getting a good night’s sleep can help with improve your skins elasticity and complexion.
Skipping sleep can accelerate the skin ageing process, increase wrinkles and reduce skin hydration. So, if you want to achieve healthy, glowy skin this year, make it your New Year goal to get a good night’s sleep.
